Viewing Flickr Feeds on My Yahoo

Participating in Flickr groups is one of the best ways to get involved with the community. There are groups on almost every possible topic, including different subjects, locations, techniques, cameras and more, and if you can’t find one that matches your interests, you can start your own. The only problem is that it can be hard to keep up with all these groups, and Flickr doesn’t really have a good way to keep a quick view of current photographs in all your favorite groups without a lot of clicking around.

That’s why I use My Yahoo as a feed reader for the twenty Flickr groups that I administer. It’s easy to set this up — just log in to My Yahoo, click on Add Content and then Add RSS Feed. Copy and paste in the feed address from the group pool’s page. Use settings to get the display the way you want it — I use Images Only, and display seven images because this fits well on my monitor. You can set up separate pages in your My Yahoo account, so I have one page just for my Flickr groups, which makes it easy to see all the new pictures in all my groups on one page.

Hovering over an image displays an enlargement, and it’s easy to click through to view the photo page or the group page on Flickr.
